Mexican Style Microwave Rice

Mexican style microwave rice is ready-cooked, seasoned rice that you heat in the microwave and serve as a side or the base of a quick meal. It suits burrito bowls, fajitas and chilli con carne, when you want a tasty rice without a pan of cooking time.

What Mexican Style Rice Is Like

Mexican style rice is usually savoury and gently spiced, with more flavour than plain boiled rice. Because the rice is already seasoned, it works as part of the dish rather than just something to soak up the sauce.

Microwave rice is already cooked, so there is no rinsing, measuring or watching a pan. Heat it as the pack directs, then fluff it with a fork before serving. That keeps the grains separate instead of clumped together.

Ways to Use Mexican Style Microwave Rice

This rice goes well with most Tex-Mex style meals. Here are some easy ideas.

  • Burrito bowls with black beans, sweetcorn, salsa and grated cheese
  • Filling for burritos and wraps
  • A side for chicken or vegetable fajitas
  • Served under chilli con carne
  • Stuffed peppers, using heated rice mixed with beans and sweetcorn
  • A quick lunch with a fried egg and avocado

Tips for Serving Mexican Style Rice

A few small extras make microwave rice taste freshly made. Squeeze over a little lime juice and add chopped fresh coriander just before serving.

For a fuller meal, stir leftover roast chicken, peppers or beans into the rice once it is hot. You can also warm the rice in a frying pan with the other ingredients for a one-pan supper.

Mexican Style Microwave Rice FAQ

Do I need to add water or oil?

No, microwave rice is already cooked, so you only need to heat it. Always follow the instructions on the pack for timing and any other steps.

Can I heat Mexican style rice in a pan instead?

Yes, you can warm ready-cooked rice in a pan over a medium heat. Add a small splash of water and stir often so it heats through without sticking.

Add Mexican style microwave rice to your basket for the next burrito night or quick midweek chilli.

We take great care when preparing and securely packing every order; however, during transportation, parcels may be handled by several parties, including the courier, and despite our best efforts, minor cosmetic damage such as dents, marks, scuffs or damage to external packaging may occasionally occur. Minor cosmetic damage that does not affect the product’s safety, quality or intended use will not normally be considered a product defect. This is particularly applicable to products supplied in cans, tins, plastic containers, boxes or similar packaging. If you receive a product that is broken, leaking, materially damaged, unsafe, unusable or otherwise not as described, please contact us within 24 Hours of delivery by email or telephone and provide your order number, details of the issue and clear photographs of the damaged product and packaging. We may require further information or evidence to investigate the matter and, where necessary, may take up to 14 days to complete our investigation. Where damage appears to have occurred during delivery, we may need to raise a claim with the courier, and you may be required to complete and return any Damage on Receipt (DOR) form or other documentation requested by the courier before the claim can be processed. Some products we sell are price-marked or display a manufacturer’s recommended or printed retail price. Please note that our online selling prices may differ from the price printed on the product because online orders involve additional costs such as picking, packing, packaging materials, warehouse handling, payment processing, website administration and delivery-related costs. You may therefore receive a product displaying a printed or recommended retail price that is lower than the price you paid online. The price you agree to pay is the online selling price displayed on our website at the time you place your order, and the presence of a lower printed or recommended retail price on the packaging does not, by itself, mean that the online purchase price was incorrect. Product images displayed on our website are for illustration and presentation purposes only. Actual product packaging, branding, design, colour, size, shape or appearance may vary depending on availability, manufacturer, batch or packaging updates. Such variations do not necessarily indicate that the product supplied is different from the product ordered, provided that the product itself corresponds to the description and specifications stated on the website. We ask customers to check their order and products as soon as reasonably possible after delivery and contact us promptly if there is any material damage, fault, incorrect item or issue with the goods.
