Bens Original Spicy Mexican Microwave Rice

Bens Original Spicy Mexican Microwave Rice is ready-cooked rice in a pouch, seasoned Mexican-style with a spicy kick and heated in the microwave. It suits quick weeknight meals like burrito bowls, fajitas and chilli con carne, when you want a hot side on the table fast.

Why Choose Spicy Mexican Microwave Rice

Spicy Mexican microwave rice saves you from cooking and seasoning rice from scratch. The rice is already cooked and flavoured, so you only need to heat it. That makes it handy for busy evenings, packed lunches at work, or a quick side when the main dish is already on the hob.

The seasoning gives the rice more character than plain boiled rice. It works well next to simple grilled meat, beans or roasted vegetables.

Ways to Use Spicy Mexican Rice

Spicy Mexican rice goes with most Tex-Mex and Mexican-style dishes. Here are some easy ideas:

  • Burrito bowls with black beans, sweetcorn, salsa and avocado
  • Rice for burritos and wraps, stirred with beans or shredded chicken
  • Stuffed peppers, using the rice as the filling before baking
  • A side for fajitas, tacos and quesadillas
  • Chilli con carne served over a bed of rice
  • Quick lunch bowls topped with a fried egg and a squeeze of lime

Tips for Heating Microwave Rice

Always follow the cooking instructions printed on the pack, because microwave power varies. Take care when you open the pouch, as the steam is very hot.

Fluff the rice with a fork after heating so the grains separate. Stir in a little fresh coriander, lime juice or chopped spring onion if you want a fresher finish.

Spicy Mexican Microwave Rice FAQ

How do I heat microwave rice?

Follow the instructions on the pack, as timings depend on your microwave. Open the pouch carefully afterwards and fluff the rice with a fork before serving.

What can I serve with Mexican-style rice?

It goes well with fajitas, chilli con carne, grilled chicken, beans and roasted peppers. It also makes a good base for a burrito bowl with salsa, avocado and soured cream.

Add it to your basket ready for your next burrito bowl or fajita night.

Disclaimer

We take great care when preparing and securely packing every order; however, during transportation, parcels may be handled by several parties, including the courier, and despite our best efforts, minor cosmetic damage such as dents, marks, scuffs or damage to external packaging may occasionally occur. Minor cosmetic damage that does not affect the product’s safety, quality or intended use will not normally be considered a product defect. This is particularly applicable to products supplied in cans, tins, plastic containers, boxes or similar packaging. If you receive a product that is broken, leaking, materially damaged, unsafe, unusable or otherwise not as described, please contact us within 24 Hours of delivery by email or telephone and provide your order number, details of the issue and clear photographs of the damaged product and packaging. We may require further information or evidence to investigate the matter and, where necessary, may take up to 14 days to complete our investigation. Where damage appears to have occurred during delivery, we may need to raise a claim with the courier, and you may be required to complete and return any Damage on Receipt (DOR) form or other documentation requested by the courier before the claim can be processed. Some products we sell are price-marked or display a manufacturer’s recommended or printed retail price. Please note that our online selling prices may differ from the price printed on the product because online orders involve additional costs such as picking, packing, packaging materials, warehouse handling, payment processing, website administration and delivery-related costs. You may therefore receive a product displaying a printed or recommended retail price that is lower than the price you paid online. The price you agree to pay is the online selling price displayed on our website at the time you place your order, and the presence of a lower printed or recommended retail price on the packaging does not, by itself, mean that the online purchase price was incorrect. Product images displayed on our website are for illustration and presentation purposes only. Actual product packaging, branding, design, colour, size, shape or appearance may vary depending on availability, manufacturer, batch or packaging updates. Such variations do not necessarily indicate that the product supplied is different from the product ordered, provided that the product itself corresponds to the description and specifications stated on the website. We ask customers to check their order and products as soon as reasonably possible after delivery and contact us promptly if there is any material damage, fault, incorrect item or issue with the goods.
