Spicy Chilli Bolognese Pasta Sauce

Spicy chilli bolognese pasta sauce is a ready-made sauce for spaghetti bolognese with a little extra heat. It saves time on a busy night when you still want a hot, filling pasta dinner.

What This Chilli Bolognese Sauce Is Like

This bolognese sauce is made for people who like a chilli kick in their pasta. It has the rich, savoury taste of a classic bolognese, with warmth added from chilli. It pours easily from the jar and coats pasta well as it simmers.

Check the label for the full ingredients before you buy.

Ways to Use Spicy Bolognese Sauce

Spicy chilli bolognese sauce works in many family dinners, not just spaghetti. Here are some easy ideas:

  • Spaghetti bolognese with extra heat
  • Lasagne layers with a spicy tomato flavour
  • Pasta bake topped with melted cheese
  • Stuffed peppers or jacket potatoes with a spicy filling
  • Chilli-style rice bowls with beans and sweetcorn

How to Cook with Chilli Bolognese Sauce

The easiest way to use this sauce is to brown some mince in a pan first. Beef is the usual choice, but lamb, turkey or a meat-free mince also work. Stir in the sauce and simmer gently for a few minutes until hot.

If the sauce gets too thick, add a splash of the pasta cooking water. This loosens it and helps it cling to the spaghetti. Taste it before adding any extra chilli, as the heat builds as it simmers.

Spicy Bolognese Sauce FAQ

Is this bolognese sauce spicy?

Yes, it has chilli added, so expect more heat than a plain bolognese sauce. Heat is a matter of taste, so you can serve it with a little grated cheese or a spoonful of yoghurt on the side to soften it.

Do I need to add mince?

Many people cook it with mince, but you do not have to. You can also stir it through cooked pasta with vegetables such as mushrooms, peppers or courgette.

Can I use it in a lasagne?

Yes, it can be layered with pasta sheets and white sauce like any other bolognese sauce. The chilli adds a little warmth to each slice.

Add a jar to your basket and have spicy spaghetti bolognese ready for your next midweek dinner.
