Plastic Cable Ties

Plastic cable ties are thin, flexible straps with a small locking head. They pull tight around cables, plants, hoses and other items to hold them neatly in place. They are used for tidying around the home, in the garden and in the garage.

How Plastic Cable Ties Work

A plastic cable tie is a one-piece strap that locks as you pull it through its own head. The strap has small ridges along its length. Once the ridges slide past the catch in the head, the tie holds firm and will not slip back.

This makes cable ties quick to use. You can fasten one with a single hand. There are no knots to tie and no tape to unwind.

Ways to Use Plastic Cable Ties

Plastic cable ties suit many small jobs around the house. Here are some common ones:

  • Bundling charger, TV and computer cables behind a desk or cabinet
  • Tying climbing plants and young stems to canes or trellis
  • Keeping garden hoses and extension leads coiled
  • Fixing garden netting or fleece to a frame
  • Holding camping gear, tools or bike accessories together
  • Grouping craft, hobby or workshop bits so they stay together

Tips for Using Cable Ties

Plastic cable ties look tidiest when you trim the spare end after fastening. Cut the tail close to the head with snips or small scissors. This leaves a neat finish and no sharp edge to catch on a sleeve or hand.

Pull the tie snug, but do not overtighten it around soft cables or young plant stems. Leave a little room so nothing gets squashed or cut into.

Plastic Cable Ties FAQ

How do you fasten a plastic cable tie?

Wrap the strap around what you want to hold, then feed the pointed end through the head. Pull the end until the tie is snug. The head locks the strap in place as you pull.

How do you remove a plastic cable tie?

Most cable ties are removed by cutting the strap beside the head with snips or scissors. Cut carefully so you do not nick the cable or item underneath.

Add plastic cable ties to your basket and keep a few in the drawer for the next time cables or garden plants need tidying.

Disclaimer

We take great care when preparing and securely packing every order; however, during transportation, parcels may be handled by several parties, including the courier, and despite our best efforts, minor cosmetic damage such as dents, marks, scuffs or damage to external packaging may occasionally occur. Minor cosmetic damage that does not affect the product’s safety, quality or intended use will not normally be considered a product defect. This is particularly applicable to products supplied in cans, tins, plastic containers, boxes or similar packaging. If you receive a product that is broken, leaking, materially damaged, unsafe, unusable or otherwise not as described, please contact us within 24 Hours of delivery by email or telephone and provide your order number, details of the issue and clear photographs of the damaged product and packaging. We may require further information or evidence to investigate the matter and, where necessary, may take up to 14 days to complete our investigation. Where damage appears to have occurred during delivery, we may need to raise a claim with the courier, and you may be required to complete and return any Damage on Receipt (DOR) form or other documentation requested by the courier before the claim can be processed. Some products we sell are price-marked or display a manufacturer’s recommended or printed retail price. Please note that our online selling prices may differ from the price printed on the product because online orders involve additional costs such as picking, packing, packaging materials, warehouse handling, payment processing, website administration and delivery-related costs. You may therefore receive a product displaying a printed or recommended retail price that is lower than the price you paid online. The price you agree to pay is the online selling price displayed on our website at the time you place your order, and the presence of a lower printed or recommended retail price on the packaging does not, by itself, mean that the online purchase price was incorrect. Product images displayed on our website are for illustration and presentation purposes only. Actual product packaging, branding, design, colour, size, shape or appearance may vary depending on availability, manufacturer, batch or packaging updates. Such variations do not necessarily indicate that the product supplied is different from the product ordered, provided that the product itself corresponds to the description and specifications stated on the website. We ask customers to check their order and products as soon as reasonably possible after delivery and contact us promptly if there is any material damage, fault, incorrect item or issue with the goods. Nothing in this notice is intended to exclude, restrict or limit any statutory rights you may have under applicable UK consumer law.
